The countdown is on!!!
I’ve got a countdown app on my phone, so every time I look at my phone I remember how close I am to this huge adventure!
Only 3.5 weeks left until I finish at work – a bit emotional! Last week I told my team that I’ll be leaving, it was definitely a teary moment π
My job is advertised, so hopefully my replacement will be found soon and start straight away so I have some time to handover which is always a lovely thing to be able to do.
4 weeks until I leave Belfast for good. I have mixed feelings about this – I’m excited for the long trip home, the adventure, the travel, meeting people and seeing cool stuff. I’m excited to catch up with friends and family in Sydney who I won’t have seen in about 2.5 years. I’m also excited to get a tan to replace my sickly white skin after an Irish winter!
However, I am nervous about being home after so long away – many things will have changed, life goes on and I’ve not been there to keep up. Will I fit back into my friendship group? Will I want to? Will I be happy back there, after all I l’ve left several times in the past to find happiness and adventure. Most of all, I’ll miss Belfast – I’ll miss the place I work in now, I’ll miss my colleagues and friends, I’ll miss the city as a whole, and I’ll miss the rest of the world being so close! (OMG Australia is so far away from everything!!!)
A few days after I get home, my mum is getting married – this is exciting, and will be a great opportunity to catch up with the extended family after so long away. The day after Mum’s wedding, it’s one of my best friend’s weddings too (better try not to be too hungover after Mum’s!!). I am excited to catch up with all my friends in such a party atmosphere too.
Everything is coming together, train tickets, visas, hostel bookings, Workaway hosts, CouchSurfing hosts – and I just had to share my excitement with you all!

What do you miss most about Belfast?
Mr Adam says
The rain and the bands, of course!
