I’ll travel through Europe to St Petersburg, then get the Trans-Siberian Railway through Russia, Mongolia & China, then through Asia to Aus!
My UK working visa is coming to an end, so clearly an adventure on the way home to Australia is required!
My visa ends on 3 July 2014, so the trip will begin on this date at the latest – possibly earlier depending on funds, and therefore how long I can afford to travel. I have to be back in Sydney before the end of September 2014 for some big events – 2 important weddings and my grandad’s 90th birthday. A big couple of weeks after not seeing my friends, family or country for 27 months!!
I’d like to make the trip by land and sea as much as possible – only flying if I really have to e.g. I’m unable to complete the trip by the end of September or if I do not have enough money to complete the whole trip
During the trip I’ll:
- Get a real understanding of the size of the planet
- Travel through up to 25 countries
- Survive the Trans-Siberian Railway
- Experience countless different people, cultures, foods and ways of life
- Learn about myself and the world
- Share my experiences and photos on my blog
Keep an eye on my blog, as I’ll post updates as the itinerary etc. starts to come together, and of course I’ll be sure to share my experiences and photos as I travel – wherever there is internet access of course.
Why don’t you use the comments section to share with me your thoughts, ideas, questions and advice?
Obviously this trip will cost a few dollars (not to mention all the other currencies) – and I’m madly saving to fund it myself as much as I can.
I’d be more than willing to do some work along the way in exchange for things like accommodation and food. I’ve used CouchSurfing and Workaway before while travelling, which have been amazing experiences. I’d love to include both of these again on this trip – they’re a great way to help keep the costs of your trip down, while also really getting to know a place, culture and people!
Costs I’ll need to cover:
- Transport – trains, busses, boats etc (possibly a flight if no other option)
- Travel Insurance
Check my blog as I’ll be posting updates on plans, costs breakdowns etc as I work my way through the planning.
Have any questions, comments, ideas, feedback or advice? I’d love to hear them! Let me know and I’ll be sure to respond and take any ideas on board.
Thanks for reading!
