Home in Sydney, I was working full time in an office as a Customer Service/Sales Manager in a large multinational company. Realising that working full time and being in one place all the time was not for me!
So, I saved money… And after less than 2 years back in Australia, I was on the road again.
But now what?
The plan is to (somehow) start an online business, so I can sustain a location independent / digital nomad lifestyle. This means that I can work from anywhere, any time, without having to be full time permanently employed at normal company.
But how?
- Travel Blog?
- Other websites?
- Being employed in a remote working role?
- Selling things online?
There are literally millions of resources online – so many that it’s overwhelming, daunting and confusing.
I’ve got such a long reading list, and I’ve enrolled in online courses… Some free, some paid for.
I just don’t know where to start or what direction to take.
Which means I find myself wasting time. Sometimes totally procrastinating, and sometimes doing a lot of reading – but I get lost in all the information and the pages it links to, and by the end of the day my planned reading list is longer than it was to start with!
argh.
Calm down. Take a deep breath.
Focus on one or two things and see them through.
I have to work on the blog, and the courses I’ve already enrolled in and paid for:
- SuperStar Blogging by Nomadic Matt
- Travel Blog Success
Focus on completing these courses, and putting the skills I learn into practise on my blog. Forget about everything else on the internet. Forget about all the other amazing business opportunities. They can come later.
I’ll be home for Christmas. I’m happy to stay for 6 months and get a job to build up the savings again before going away for more adventures and can focus on learning another online skill / business idea then.
Goals
- Complete SuperStar Blogging & Travel Blog Success online courses
- Write regular blog posts
- Put skills you learn in the courses into practise on your website
- Build an online community – engage with the people in the groups you’re already in
- Have fun
